The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is essentially a study of potential housing sites in Cornwall. It is important to understand that the SHLAA does not allocate land but is an important piece of evidence that Helps Cornwall Council build its evidence base for the Local Plan. It replaces the 2011 SHLAA and contains the most up to date information about housing sites available at the current time. The SHLAA also contains information about the Council’s housing land supply.
The primary role of the Assessment was to:
- Identify sites with potential for housing
- Assess their housing potential
- Assess when they were likely to be developed
